THIS IS OUR STORY

DAVID BEATTIE
David Beattie founded the Slot Mods brand in 2007 and serves in the dual role of designer and lead artist for each commissioned project. Every Slot Mods raceway bears David’s signature passion, artistry, and meticulous attention detail.
David has been featured in publications across the globe including Car and Driver, Sports Illustrated, and CNBC, and has made appearances on Jay Leno's Garage, The Today Show, Discovery Channel, the BBC, Galileo, Road & Track, The Robb Report, The Wall Street Journal, and multiple enthusiasts' podcasts.
David grew up in a suburb of Detroit with ten siblings, one who worked for McLaren Racing’s Can Am team. His love of auto racing began when Peter Revson’s Can Am car appeared on a car hauler in the family’s driveway. He is a fan of all things motorsports, including Formula 1, NASCAR, and sports car racing.
"With a deep respect for each client's individual taste, our raceways are an intricate fusion of art and engineering, limited only by our boundless imagination".

FOUNDER, SLOT MODS RACEWAYS

ABOUT OUR RACEWAYS

Slot Mods raceways capture the essence of the golden era of slot car racing in a modern package. Our raceways feature iconic race cars, historically accurate and period-correct scenes, handmade structures and buildings, and hand-painted details such as car liveries, spectators, sponsor logos, billboards, and signage.
Each Slot Mods wooden analog raceway includes magnetic steel braid conductors, variable voltage transformers, lap timing systems, and our proprietary raceway leveling mechanism to ensure seamless and uninterrupted racing action. Professional-grade slot car controllers provide responsive handling and precise control. Every raceway is precisely tuned to deliver high-speed racing action in every lap.
THE TEAM
The Slot Mods team consists of miniature model makers, designers, dreamers, and artists with diverse backgrounds in automotive design, engineering, and master carpentry. From hand-painting intricate raceway elements to overseeing the entire build process, our team takes pride in delivering bespoke raceways that surpass all expectations.

THE PROCESS
Drawing inspiration from real world raceways, our clients’ nostalgic recollections, and our limitless imagination, we create one-of-a-kind slot car racing experiences. During the design process, clients have the choice to collaborate closely with us or entrust the design entirely to David's expertise. Behind the scenes, our team follows a refined process that ensures the highest standards of quality assurance, design, and fabrication.
Our process includes:
• Pre-build consultations
• Concept renderings, drawings, and CAD schematics
• Multi-stage build process
• End-to-end white-glove service and installation
• Unveiling and inaugural race celebration

David’s creations have taken the hobby of slot car racing from humble basement setups to prominent stages such as Times Square and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
